Disconnected service - lost cell numbe

I had 24 month contract with CellC via Altech. Upon my contract ending on the 28 Dec 2012 I asked that my SIM card be converted to prepaid. I intended to get a new contract in the new year but directly with CellC. On the 28 Dec 2012 my service was cut off and when people and clients dialed my number it said that is didn't exist. I phoned Altech's call centre and most days was assured that 'tomorrow your SIM card will be working'. Finally on Thurs 3 Jan I was told that I need to go into an Altech store to get a new SIM card so they can put my number on it.

So on Fri 4 Jan I got the new SIM card and applied for a SIM swop so my number could be transferred to it. It is now Thurs 24 Jan and still this has not happened. I emailed Altech on the 9 Jan and was assured a response within 24 hours but haven't received anything so far. CellC said they can't help me as have to go through Altech. Altech were waiting for my number 'to be made available by CellC'. All I wanted was my phone number so I could activate a new contract with CellC.

On 15 Jan I was so fed up I decided to cut my losses and got a new contract with Vodacom with a new cell number.

I am disgusted with lack of service.
