Getting charge for contracts that have expired

I sent a mail a month before the contract expired to cancel it, they sent me back a email that stated that is been cancelled now 2 months down the line I see they still charging me for it but the sim cards have been disconnected cant even use them, this is bad service and skills provided by MTN
