Our 24 month data contract with Nashua Mobile expired at the end of September. We did not intend to renew it as we were getting a Telkom ADSL line instead. But imagine our surprise when we were billed R149 at the end of October, R30 more than we had been paying on contract. We contacted them and found out that we should have 'cancelled' our EXPIRED contract! This we did early in November. We were again billed at the end of November AND at the end of December: that's R447 that they have taken WITHOUT OUR AUTHORIZATION! We contacted them again this morning and have not received any form of apology or explanation for this.
I am complaining about two things. Firstly there should be no need to 'cancel' a contract after it has run its term. That's the whole point of a contract! Secondly Nashua Mobile had no right to assume we would want to continue using their services after our contract had expired, and they had no right to charge us beyond the 24 month period. They also should have honoured our request for termination when it was sent through and IMMEDIATELY processed it. Who takes a month to process a simple termination request?
