8ta / Telkom Mobile
Undisclosed charges and telephonic threat

In July 2011 I was contacted by a persistent cold caller who persuaded me to purchase a cell phone. It was delivered by a courier who made me sign for delivery and disappeared before I could open the parcel. On opening I discovered that it was an inferior phone, and took it back to 8ta at Telkom Bayside, who told me to take it to Century City 8ta. I did this and was told by them that many more people were trying to return the same, and there was nothing they could do to help me. I phoned 8ta and said I didn't want the phone, I had never used it, and they said a courier would collect it. It was collected and I thought that this was the end of the situation. On 20th August 2013, over two years later, I received the first of 3 text messages saying I owed R250.48 to Telkom Mobile, and to ring NuDebt. I did this and spoke to Sivi Sicini, who threatened me that if I didn't pay by end of August it would be a court case and they would come to my home and remove my possessions and sell them. I went back to 8ta Telkom Bayside, and was told that it was a courier charge. I did not know about this, especially as I tried to return it to both Bayside and Century City as soon as I received it.
