I'm on a Vodacom TopUp contract and at the beginning of each month I use the *111# service to use a portion of my airtime towards buying data. I've heard rumours for months about promotional data and someone finally told me that it is now available on the *111# service. On the first of August I used the service and decided to buy 250mb at R59 and went about my day. On the 7th I checked my balance, which was 0mb, and decided to buy just a bit more, 100mb at R29, to avoid using out of bundle data at exorbitant prices. A few minutes later I checked to see if any of the data had been used and what do know, 0mb. Both times my airtime was debited but no data was loaded. I had a look on the internet and it appears that the promotional data is not available to TopUp clients, which I can understand but that still doesn't explain why my airtime was debited for a service I did not receive. Luckily I have Wi-Fi at varsity and at home otherwise my airtime which is mainly for voice calls would have surely been depleted.
