8ta customer care a disappointment

8ta entered the South African market offering great deals at 50% of the cost of its closest competitor. I immediately joined the network as I needed a new service provided for data for my iPad. After checking that there is indeed coverage in my area, I went off with my sim card and new data.

Alas, there is no coverage in my area. I contacted the call center and, after being on the phone for 30 minutes, I'm finally transferred to the right person. A case number is opened and I was told that the technicians will get back to me in one day. After two days, I emailed again and later called again. Every time I'm informed that they will contact me. It has since been 5 days and no response from 8ta.

I need the data for work purposes and have therefore been forced to move to a different service provider. It is such a pity though, because 8ta seemed so promising.

I guess one cannot penetrate the market without decent customer services.
