I dont understand why my contract still goes on

I took a contract with MTN and it was due to expire in April. I did complete payments and thereafter after every 20th they add more airtime and charge me without my consent. when I call to ask they tell me to c lear first and when i clear it goes on and on again. I am now in arrears again because they keep on doing it over and over and it seems they actually are the ones who stand to gain in this behaviour. We had a signed agreement when I took the contract to say it ends on such a date: Why didnt they just write it off like other service providers. I even told them to cancel on the 11th of May only to be told they had already billed me. This is daylight. I havent been working these past 12 months and its straining on me as I would have completed with the payments and focusing on other accounts.

please help me cancel this contract.
