I received a replacement Iphone 4s in January this year. Soon afterwards, I was forced to buy a Iphone 5 for cash when I travelled overseas and realised that the phone was faulty. I was there for some time and needed continuous access to email. Upon return I asked my son to take the phone in for repairs.
Vodacom Repairs Centre returned the phone some 2 weeks later, refusing to repair it as it was a non-Vodacom instrument. I asked him to return it to Johannesburg.
I eventually convinced Vodacom Repairs Centre in Jhb that the phone is theirs by forcing them to compare the serial number to their records of issue. They booked the phone in for repairs
They have now replied and said the phone is no longer covered by warranty, essentially due to the time lapsed since their mistake of not fixing the phone. I have to pay for the repairs. Can you believe the logic!!
"I make a mistake, because of that your rights are affected negatively and I expect you to pay for my mistake"
I tried to explain to the lady at the Escalation Dept at the Repairs centre that this is simply not making sense, that i have 3 contracts (for 20 years) with Vodacom that will soon be nil. Her response? Go.
OK
