I got a Galaxy S4 on 2013-05-14 only to find after use that the front speaker has a high pitch scratchy noise during phonecalls. Not happy with this I returned it to Vodacom 4U Cavendish on 2013-05-18. I spent the next week without a phone and collected a new handset on 2013-05-24. On the 28th I reported this new handset to have the same issue. Scared that it might be a manufacturer error, I took it to Samsung Walkin Center Canal Walk, who informed me that this is a common issue with these phones and that the can swap the speaker out for me. The new phone was still in the 7 day return period so I decided to rather OBF this one as well. Cavendish could not help me on the day (2013-05-30) due to a fire in the center and I subsequently booked the phone in the next day (2013-05-31) at Canal walk with the same issue. On 2013-06-11 I collected the phone, which was not swapped as they found "no problem". I tried to convince myself to live with it but its a "broken" device.
Samsung confirmed this is an issue on the handset I have, but Vodacom says "nothing wrong". Vodacom is not living up to their contractual obligations!!! I have the right to have a working handset. I have written proof.
