Samsung South Africa
Samsung S4 - faulty - refusal to adhere to CPA

Bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 on contract on 26 June 2013 from Cell C Midlands Mall Pietermaritzburg, and almost immediately began experiencing problems with the handset which was faulty and would often reboot itself when using the camera or other applications that utilise the camera functionality. On 2 August 2013 I returned to the store and informed staff of the problem. I was advised that the handset would need to be "sent in" to your repair center in Johannesburg. After going 3 weeks without my handset, on 23 August 2013 I collected my handset after having being informed it had been repaired. Despite this, to date, the handset continues with its original fault relating to the camera rebooting issue.

I attended on the store yesterday, specifically against the backdrop of the Consumer Protection Act and I demanded that they replace my faulty handset. I was advised that the warranty is between Samsung and Call C and that the Consumer Protection Act did not apply to me - which is nonsense. Samsung have sold me a faulty handset and I regret ever getting the Galaxy S4. I have checked on the internet and the fault is well documented - Samsung are aware of it yet continue to sell them!
