SIM Card just stop working

I got my phone less than 3 months ago. Since day one, it is the 3rd time i need to get a new sim card. The first one just did not want to work. The second one worked for 2 days then stopped. On Sunday, my current sim card just stopped working for no reason. I spent 20 minutes with the technical support who told me "Your sim card stopped working, you have to change it". I talked to the call centre because I do not want to pay once again R150 for a new nano sim card and admin fee but was told that they would see what could be done but it is very unlikely that I would get the new sim for free and so, i would have to pay again.
R150 every time! Seriously?? I do not "play around" with the sim. Once it is in the phone, it stays in the phone! How can it suddenly *break*??
On the phone, it shows that I have Cell C network signal, but it will not allow any call, sms, data...

I was just tol i need to wait 48h to get feedback or go and pay for a new sim. So, either I'm phoneless for 48h or i pay...!
I have been with Cell C for less than 3 months and i am so over them already.
