Misinformed and very disappointed

I gave my Z10 in for repair. To my shock I found out that I will have to pay in R2200.00 for the repairs as I was underinsured. NEVER SINCE 2005 WAS I INFORMED THAT I AM UNDERASSURED! Visiting the branch I was hopeful that there would be some kind of arrangement we could make in order for me to get my phone fixed without having to pay the R2200.00 upfront in cash as I cannot afford this. I made a suggestion that they can bill the R2200.00 over a period of time, this was shot down. I was told that they could correct the assurance amount and I could pay in an "early claim" in order for them to fix the phone, this can only be done if my sim is in the phone and the phone active (the phone is broken and cannot switch on). What on earth does my sim have anything to do with insurance on my PHONE? The manager explained that they link it to the sim as I can try to give in any phone. My phone was issued by Vodacom Centurion and I am trying to fix it at the same branch, doesn't the phone link to an IM or serial number that they issued me? Surely they can track it this way? Seems like they are trying to blame everything except the fact that they misinform their clients!
