MTN Blackberry Contract Can't Make Outgoing Calls

Since the day i got the Sim&Blackberry last week I have not been able to make outgoing calls on my MTN contracted BlackBerry cell phone. All other services are functioning normally, including incoming calls. It has been established that the problem is with the account and/or the number, but no one knows how to resolve the issue. I have even offered to have a new number although the number is on my business cards and website.
