Telkom
Two Months without a landline/internet

Fault reported on April 1st, followed by prompt visit by technician who declared a cable fault. Telkom then sent automated sms's each one promising restoration of the line two weeks hence. Two months later and there is still no line. Today's information sets the connection to resume on the 17th July. FOUR MONTHS since reporting!

As a Clinical Psychologist running a practice from home the telephone line and internet connection are essential. Their lack has cost me.

I am unhappy (i) that this has taken so long, (ii) that Telkom, a telecommunication provider, has not thought a 4 month disruption of service warranted correspondence explaining the problem, setting out a genuine date when the service will be restored, and waiving line rental.

It is bad enough being unable to plan properly with these endless unmet deadlines, but this is made even more frustrating by the careless way in which Telkom seems to treat its customers. My endless calls to 10210 (on my cellphone!) have been met with blithe reassurances, the last one being " the cable is there we are just waiting for someone to join it"! I can only think that this is what a monopoly invites: carelessness.
