Roaming Gone Wrong - No Power in My Hands!

I have sent this abridged email on 21 May 2013 and no response as yet.

It seems that Cell C has completely reneged from their responsibilities. As a service provider, your client services agent should have been more proactive to advise me of the implications of international roaming, especially the possible high data and call costs and that the threshold limit would not be effective whilst roaming when I requested it to be increased.

Furthermore, I have subsequently received an SMS informing me that my threshold limit has been increased to R3500, for which I have definitely not authorised. It would have defeated the purpose if the limit does not even apply whilst abroad.

As a long standing client with Cell C, I am deeply saddened that there has been a lack of empathy and transparency on your part. Informing your clients upfront of the charges, especially whilst roaming, is a legal requirement of the Consumer Protection Act and I do not believe that your agent has followed this procedure.

Due to the high usage, my account has since been suspended until I pay a 50% deposit - I am now indeed powerless without my phone and this is not a fair treatment!
