I have an iPhone5 on a very expensive contract with Vodacom whom I have been with for over ten years and paying insurance to for almost as long. I dropped my iPhone and the screen cracked and when I took it in to VodaCare Greenpoint the lady at the counter (Not a technician!) told me they won't repair a "5", they'll just replace it. Now it transpires that because they won't repair it, and because when I got the phone and upgraded my contract no-one bothered to say I should update the value of my insurance (despite my specifically checking if my Insurance was still valid when I upgraded), Vodacom insurance is saying they will only pay up to R5000 which will not cover the replacement cost of the iPhone5! So basically I've been paying Vodacom and the Insurance a fortune for years and now because they won't repair the phone, it is going to cost me thousands to replace the phone which is only a few months old!
I am extremely unhappy with this whole scenario and feel completely taken for a ride by Vodacom on this and will be cancelling my policy and am considering switching service providers.
