New vodacom policies completely unreasonable

I went to upgrade my contract on Sunday, 19 May 2013, the service was quick and effective. I upgraded to a samsung galaxy S3 mini, and after noticing that the phone was making no sound at all (like music and loud speaker calls). I took the phone back to the voda shop on tuesday, 21 May 2013, I was then told that it would take 7 to 14 working days to let me know whether or not I will be receiving a new replacement phone. The very helpful staff explained the new procedure to me. Vodacom now want shops to send products back for testing of defaults, which takes 7 to 14 working days. I find this ridiculous as the staff in store were more that capable of assessing the phone and identifying the problem. I understand that sometimes people send in phones that is in perfect working order only to receive a new phone but vodacom should have personnel in all shops that should be able to assess these problems. But thank you for the excelent personel and service at the voda shop
