Extremely unsatisfied with cellc

I had a cell c contract about 10 years ago and paid my account in full. 6 years ago they contacted me about a cellphone contract and I said I don't have a contract. The same thing happened 4 years ago and also a year ago and everytime the amount was different. They wanted proof that I paid the account. Where do they expect me to get proof 10 year along the line. They told me to contact their lawyer which I did and the lawyer told me to go to the police and get a affidavit to say that I have paid my contract in full. Dew to 10 years that allapsed I don't have proof of payment. However I do have the letter from cell c lawyer that I received June 2012 that states that this matter is resolved. I have the letter to proof it. I never knew that cell c didn't remove this from my credit record until last week when I contacted them apply for a cellphone contract. Which they did not approve due to this matter still being on my credit health. I am prepared to take this matter further and contact the national consumer act as this is affecting my credit health and you are keeping me from getting anything on credit. I await urgent response as you are exploiting a few laws by not corecting this
