Equest to cancel not acted on/ replied to

Since 12 March 2013 I have been requesting that contract 083 388 3905 be cancelled on expiry i.e. 17 May 2013. I explained that MTN did not have any Iphone 5 in stock and I took new contract elsewhere. I keep getting messages to say that someone will contact mefrom retentions or "turnaround time"is 72 hours and messages apologizing for the delay. Six weeks later, still no confirmation that my request will be carried out and I get an email from Nazir Khan to say that I should rather phone 808 and start the procedure all over again.
