Roughly two years ago I signed a 3 year contract with Planet fitness.
A year into the contract I tried to cancell but was told of a cancelation fee.
I was told to sell my contract but gave up eventually.
A while later I tried again, found someone who was willing to take over the contract but
was told that their rules had changed a few days before this and I wasn't allowed to do so anymore.
I then decided to go through with the cancelation. After numerous amounts of calls, a dozen e-mails back and forth I finally get an e-mail stating the amount of the cancelation fee. The fee being R1555.66 for the 17months remaining.
I find this fee highly unreasonable as it works out to 26% of the remainder of my contract.
As stated in the consumer protection act, a reasonable fee I would say being about 10% not 26%?!
This is madness, I am angry beyond words and I cant possibly be more frustrated.
Horrible service, people who don't care nor wish to help and insane amounts of money just to opt out.
I doubt what they're doing is legal
