As I was not sure if i wanted to join M&F gym as i already belong to a much larger gym group that has better equipment, I asked one of their consultants if i could have a five day trial before i committed to a contract. I genuinely would like to see if the gym's only draw card for me (the closer proximity to my home) outweighs the fact that their facilities aren't quite up to the higher standard that I'm used to. If I found I was able to train more due to the cut down in traveling time, I wanted to sign up.
I was then told that the manager Michael was "in a bad mood" and i could have "one day or maybe two" as a trial. When i asked about the fees published LAST MONTH in a fair lady test [URL Removed] I was told these fees had changed TODAY (the 16th? weird day to change your fees) from R319.00 to R359.00. This certainly sounds like a very suspicious story to me as who cuts off a "special" (not advertised as a special either) in the middle of the month? M&F doesn't seem to have a head office number where the public could check up on what their standard pricing really is, everything on the website is contacts for the individual gyms only.
