I registered with Virgin Active K90 last year october for a 1 year contract. At the time i was working on the mines and affordability was not an issue. My circumstance has since changed and i lost my work. I can not afford the monthly gym membership fees any more. I visited the branch and was advised that I if I wanted to cancel it would cost me R643.00 This is something that I do not understand and was not explained to me.
I do not understand why I should pay to cancel the service. I the case of a cellphone contract, I get that I would have to pay for the device since I can not return it. But in the case of GYM Membership, why should I pay for cancelling since I would not be using the GYM after I have cancelled and I would not be taking any of the equipment. What is the R643.00 plus cancellation fee for? and i have no income and this will give me a bad debt record?
