My membership was supposed to be cancelled

Last year I took out a membership contract with virgin active and when my patner got employed by them she made me her nominee, meaning that I was now entitled to a free membership, I went to virgin active glenvista and they made me complete new forms for the nominee membership and I was adviced that my old membership will be automatically cancelled due to this new one, now Im getting calls, sms's and letters saying that my account is in arrears with R1663, where the does that come from now because I even called their call centre to confirm if the old contract will be cancelled or not and if there is a cancellation that I had to pay or what is going to happen they told me the same story that its going to be cancelled automatically, so I need whoever is not doing their job right, or dont know theior story to please fix this, I wont allow to have a bad record where I am not at fault, this is rediculouse really. Im very dissapointed and angry and I thought of letting my patner know so that she can go and enquire but I know that she is too soft and she will never get this sorted out.
