Retrenchment cover - a waste of my time

I have been a jet store card holder for many years and have had the retrenchment cover as part of my insurance. In November 2012, I was retrenched. I went to the Gateway store, enquired about the requirements to sort out my retrenchment cover, and handed in documents. Only outstanding was my UIF form. I advised them I was still awaiting this form and will hand same in as soon as I receive it. In January 2013, I received my UI19 form and handed same to the store.they confirmed those were all they required and someone from the insurance department will contact me. I did not hear from anyone thereafter.i called last week to the insurance claims department and the lady there advised me they are waiting for documents from me. I advised her that all my documents that were requested were handed in. She told me they now want a letter from the firm confirming from when I was employed and what date I was retrenched, as well as my last salary advice.i have been unable to obtain a letter from the firm as they advised that I must use my retrenchment letter.up until now my claim has not been sorted out yet I have paid for the insurance for many years. I will now be seeking legal assistance.
