Lying to a custome

I wanted to find out what I am to do; I bought a portable aircon from Marko in Dec 2012. When I started to use it I found out that it is not working the way I need it to.
So I went back to Marko in Jan 2013 and told my story to a lady working in returns, she phoned around the shop and told me to bring back the aircon, and they will give me credited so that I can buy a split unit. When I can back in Feb 2013 the lady was not working there anymore so the manager in the returns told me that they don't do that so I much take my aircon and go. So we got into an argument so I told him to go fly. I booked in the unit as not working.
But I still belief that if I was told one thing that it much work that way. Why to me and then talk to me like I am a dog. When I asked him to talk to his manager he told me that his manager don't handle his department. So what am I to do about this?
