Afteaccount to be closed

Good day.

There was with my account in 2011 and i went to them an laid a complaint, they assisted me and furher reversed the amount that was used, i asked them if they could close the account as i was no longer interested in using the account, i was advised to pay the outstanding balance which i did, i was then promised that the account was closed . it was always appearing on my ITC report so i went to one of their branches and the lady assured me that the account was closed,

To my suprise i received a call today saying that i need to come and pay, i advised the call centre agent that called that i do not have an account with them and she said that she will contact their department and report the matter to them, i just need this to be resolved as nit appears negetively againt my ITC report and frankly i just dont have the time to go up and down tryking tol resolv e someones incompetence, i am beginuing to think this is deliberate, as i had my ID with me and i assume one would need the id and proof of residende t reopen the account thats if it was ever closed,

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO A POSITIVE RESPONSE,
