Some 3 years ago I bought an expensive ironing board from Boardmans Cresta. I was assured that replacement covers were available once the original one was soiled. When I could not find the replacement cover in any of the Boardmans stores last year I contacted the EDCON call centre and raised a formal complaint (Ref. Nr. 0912130233/GO). Over the past 4 months I have spoken to at least a dozen call centre agents who tried to find the item in one of their stores, all to no avail. I spoke to a sales person at Boardmans Northgate (Jabu) and he told me that he had big problems with this item being out of stock as clients walked in daily looking for the item. He felt that Boardmans should stop selling the new Brabantia Ironing Boards if they stopped selling the cover. This week a spoke to Ayanda Galela (Call Centre Team Leader) and Joyce Letlape and both informed me that they could do no more for me as the item was out of stock. On several occasions I asked for the name of a senior executive or the phone number of the CEO but I quickly discovered that EDCON management lives in an ivory tower and does not want to be bothered with client complaints. It is impossible to talk to a manager.
