Purchased vouchers as a gift but unable to redeem

Hi,

I purchased 4 x R100 vouchers for my wife for her birthday. I paid for them, chucked the receipt and put them in an envelope. A few months later she goes to use the at Truworths (Mac) and she was told she cannot redeem the vouchers without the receipt. They refused to budge. This is totally unacceptable! The voucher did not say anything about needing the receipt and who gives a gift with the receipt included and why was I not told to keep the receipt when I bought them, otherwise the vouchers are useless? The voucher card has a voucher number. The voucher card has the value of the voucher. There is absolutely not reason why it should not be accepted!

I would like a refund of the R400 I paid for the vouchers... or the number of a manager the store at the Gateway can call to sort out this issue. It's pathetic.
