I received a phone call from an unknown number, where the person stated my name and asked if it was correct. I said yes. She did not introduce herself, she did not say where she was calling from, she did not explain where she got my details from or how she obtained my information or why she was calling me. No security check was done to prove she had the right to know this information about me. She dived straight into the question "are you on chronic medication? ". I said no and asked how it was any of her business and what entitled her to know this. After demanding to know who she is etc, she said that Clicks Pharmacy had given them my information with medical history, and that I will now be paying bigger co-payments this year and that they can save me money on delivery of my medicine!!! I demanded to know her name and she said it was "Noah Big".
Never have I felt so violated before by a direct marketer!!! How dare any medical provider (doctor or pharmacy), sell my sensitive and privileged medical information/history, for financial gain or for direct marketing purposes!! It is nobody's business!!! And the way in which she approached me was irresponsible and unprofessional!!!
