In November 2013 I went to open an account with Edgars Centurion Mall. Never had an account before. Lady picked up on computer that a person in KZN (I think Empangeni branch) has a Jet Account (Edcon Group) with my ID number. The lady in Centurion called her Head Office and Dept. She sent me away and could not be of assistance until their problem is sorted!! I called their Head Office later that day explaining the situation and no feedback what so ever to date! What if this person has a bad credit record by not paying his bills? What kind of service is this? They always keen to make you open an account but they did not think it was a matter of urgency when I sat and had to hear that I cannot be assisted because "someone" in KZN has an account with my ID. The fact that I just got left in the dark and they never bothered to follow up or rectify their mistake is very poor service. My question is how did they do a credit check on this person when he opened his account with my ID number, how many years ago? And then they still offer people vouchers when opening a new account at times!
