Good day
I would like to lay a complaint to the consumer complains directorate and or to the reserve bank of SA. Last night I visited my local Spar in Wierda Glen Centurion, I had no cash on me, however I had my valid Debit Card with me. I wanted to bay a clean writable CD the prise of it was R11.69, the cashier refused to take my payment with the card. She explained that they are not allowed to take card payments for less than R50.00. I asked for the manager and explained to them that they are not allowed to refuse my legal payment. The manager was not very helpful, and could not or would not give reason as to why they don't accept my legal payment method. he only referred me to the Spar head office.
Please assist me, am I in the wrong, according to my knowledge they have to accept my legal payment method (debit card payment) no matter the amount.
Kind regards
Etienne van Zyl
