First National Bank
FNB allowing merchants minimum card purchases

Firstly, I am an FNB client and I've sent FNB an email/message via their website twice about this issue yet nothing has been done nor have they responded to my messages.

The SPAR in North Beach (Durban) has debit/credit card terminals issued by FNB and the store refuses to accept payment by card if the amount payable is under R10-00. This is against VISA and MasterCard policy and how can you issue them the terminals if they do this?

As per VISA and MasterCard rules, Merchants must not pass on the transaction charges to the customer and if they have the machines they need to accept cards as a payment method for any amount, they are NOT allowed to enforce minimum card purchases.

If nothing is done about this by next week I'm going to have to take it up with VISA/MasterCard as you HAVE been made aware of the issue numerous times yet you do nothing about it.

Compare the above service by FNB with Capitec where a similar issue with another store was resolved within 1 working day and I don't even have an account with Capitec!
