EXTREAMLY BAD SERVICE

I made a laybye on the 25/10/2013 and I took it out on the 26/11/2013. I wanted to change the shoe immediately because my daughter was not happy with it. My laybye receipt says "We will gladly allow an exchange within one month of purchase" they listed their conditions which I met all of them. They refused to change it because their policy has been changed. Where do I fit in in their changes, because they chnged it after I made a laybye. For that matter I would not have made a laybye knowing that I cannot change it. I would understand if the shoe was on sale which in this case it is not. I am very off because it is my money and I should get what I want with my money. I should not be affected with their policy change because It was not changed before IO made a laybye. All I need is another shoe not money, otherwise they must give my money back so I go to the store that will appreciate me as a customer. Pls help this is really frustrating.
