I purchased a 50" plasma tv from Makro as it had a 5 year warranty. 21 months into the 60 month warranty the power switch became faulty appearing to be a minor issue as the tv largely still worked. It was returned to makro where it was sent to the distributor. 4 weeks and numerous phone calls later we were told the tv can't be fixed as there are no parts and it would be replaced. On visiting the store instead of the tv being replaced a credit was given on the purchase price. Much to our disgust in order to replace the tv with another sinotec 50" we would have to pay in no less than an additional R1500.00 as the prices on tv's has subsequently gone up. It would appear that there is no intention of makro and sinotec in repairing tv's during the warranty period. So if one buys a tv on special and it breaks expect to be forced to pay in for what you already had. I will be insisting on a full report from Sinotec as to why a simple fault can't be repaired which has led to us being in this situation. Surely if a product can't be repaired a similar or better product should be offered as a replacement by the supplier?? The customer should not be left having to pay in for what they had!
