Unfair treatment for something i did not damage

My husband bought a wedding ring for me at NWJ unfortunately i did not like it, so he gave me an option to change it and take something else that i would like. I went to the store at least 2 times but i did not find anything, i asked the consultant was that was helping me if i could return the ring and get a refund cos it was still within 10 days. She asked to see the ring, i showed her and she was happy with it, she then asked me if i had brought the card that was used to purchase the item i said no, she told me to come back the following day. The following day i was back at the store, they checked the ring again but this time the Store manager intervened and wanted to find out from the consultant why i was returning the ring, after 20 minutes while waiting for them scrutinizing the ring i was told that they have to deduct R150 cos the ring had scratches and it has been worn. I kept telling them that i have never worn that ring cos i didn't like it the first time i saw it and what were the chances that it wasn't scratched when they sold it to my husband cos that ring was on display and different people tried on the ring and the scratches were not really visible but they insisted.
