Balance still reflected at Credit Bureau

I paid my full balance in September 2012. I asked for my account to be closed at that stage. An edcon call center agent has confirmed that my account was closed but my credit report (provided by TransUnion) shows my full outstanding balance as of September last year. As opposed to actually closing my account, Edgars has simply stopped updating it.
