I received an sms on 11 October 2013 at around 08h35 from Edgars saying that I had R25.00 worth of Thank U Points that expired on 31 October 2013. I went to Edgars Wynberg on 20 October 2013 and bought a number of items. When I gave the cashier my Thank U card and told her that I had R25.00 to spend she checked it and said that I only had R0.70. I then showed her the sms and she then called a helpline and the person explained to her that I had R25.00 credit on my Edgars account. I had closed my account in June 2012 already so I found this very frustrating. The cashier then told me that it may have been a way to encourage me to open my account again. I think it was a gimmick that was designed to mislead me into opening my account again. I am really very angry that Edgars can even think that it is acceptable to do this to customers. I think a fair apology would be to reimburse me for the petrol and time that I wasted yesterday as a result of this misleading marketing strategy.
