Poor customer service and lack of a solution

My daughter recieved a gift from truworths and it was too small for her, bcause it was a gift i did not have a receipt and wanted to exchange it for a bigger size, firstly there was lack of willingness to assist and i was told to call customer care for then said the decision with the store manager, surely there should be an alternative as it is clear that the item is from truworths and it is useless to me as it doesnt fit. i myself have been an account holder of truworths account and have in the past exchanged goods without a receipt. i feel that i have to beg for customer service that i am paying fo
