Item busy being repaired without approval given

Can you believe this... I sent in my Samsung DVD to GAME on the 11/07/2013. I did not receive any call to be adviced on the cost nor the damage report. I had to call last week Thursday 18/07/2013 and was told that the DVD is out for dispatched then (thursday 18/07/2013.). When I called this morning to confirm about the cost and the damage report, I was told that they waiting for parts for the front part to be repaired... How can you fix something where the customer has not been contacted with the quote or with the damage report.or without been given the option to get the item repaired or not... I need to know whats happening cause i need the damage report as well as the quotation... this cant goon like this and why are we being told that we as customers would be contacted but then we have to follow up???
