I went to the Fourways branch of Edgars on 16 July 2013 as my account had been frozen without notice. No postal notification of the FICA requirements had been sent to me.
I got the necessary documentation from my bank, and went to Edgars in Fourways Mall.
A lady at customer service with the name of Wendy assisted me. I completed the relevant documentation, they took a copy of my ID book and I was told it would take 48 hours for my account to be unblocked.
Its now 19 July 2013 and 6 phone.calls to Edgars Customer Service call centre and no documentation has been received by them and the account is still blocked.
I told them tonight then they shouldn't expect a payment from me this month either because if I can't use the account, why bother to pay? I got threatened by blacklisting and told them I'm one of millions of South Africans sitting with a black mark against my name. No usable account, why bother to pay.
The Call centre stinks! Absolutely incompetent people - get placed on hold for more than 10 minutes and no-one bothers to get back to you... that is if they don't just cut you off in the middle of the call. That happened 3 times.
