Would not refund cash

My husband received a gift from his sister bought from the Hub. Neither the pants nor the t-shirt fit him so I was asked to exchange it for bigger sizes. The store does not have bigger sizes. I always find it very difficult to buy items of clothing from The Hub for my husband which is why I have actually stopped shopping there for his clothing. I presented the receipt with the clothing and asked for a cash refund. I was then informed that they can only pay it back into the credit card. I explained to them that it was not purchased with my credit card but with my sister in law's. This statement clearly did not sink in... They kept telling me that they must have the credit card. Surely you can make an exception with regards to gifts - I understand that the validity of this cannot be controlled but if you can not supply me with the right sizes then you don't really have a leg to stand on with "terms and conditions". I don't want a gift voucher (which was offered to me but declined) because as I explained there is nothing in the store that I can get for my husband instead. Why should he forfeit a birthday gift because this store cannot supply proper clothing!!! Not cool!!!
