There was a promotion in store that said the following:
"Buy any 2 Allexanderfontein Merlot/Shiraz Alexanderfontein Chenin Blanc Free--R44.99 for 2 x 750ml 750ml" Also note that normal pricing of the wines are R42.99. I took photos of the promotion board together with the price tag. The promotion is worded so that you would think is is R44.99 for 2 bottles of red plus one bottle of white free. However when it was scanned at the till we were told that you have to pay R44.99 for both reds and get the white for free. Note also, that this is R2 more than the regular barcoded price. There is just so much wrong with this. Firstly the advertising is misleading. Secondly, clients are done in even if they are not buying the special. Thirdly, how many people don't check their till slips and would have ended up paying for it and not queried it. And lastly, when we asked for the manager, they were reluctant to call him/her and took so long trying to find someone to assist that we left the store. I am reluctant to go back to Checkers Liquor as I am scared of being done in again. very unpleasant experiece and no one capable of help when needed. it is scandalous and unethical behaviour.
