I was retrenched in 2008 and after receiving my severance money I decided to settle all my accounts including my Truworths account. I went in to the store in Stellenbosch and paid the outstanding amount in cash. Last week, after 5 years, I recieved a phone call from the attorneys in Bellville informing me that there is - R3000 oustanding on my Truworths account and that they need proof that the account was paid. I informed him that I settled the account 5 years ago and never received any correspondence and that I do not have the receipt anymore. This morning another lady from the attorneys contacted me, saying that I owe Truworths R1397.00 and that they are going to summon me. I would like to know how it is possible that I am only now, after 5 years, being contacted about an account that was settled in full and that I never received any correspondence or accounts for!!!
