I am not a client of EDCON and recieved an sms from the collecting company Norman Bissett and Associates.
The sms reads - "congratulations U (spelt wrong) have been selected for a discount on ur (spelt wrong) jet account. Call XXX number and quote XXX ref. Now i called thinking i am getting through to JET to explain they made a mistake and i have never had a JEt account and the lady confirmed this. But whilst she was talkin tog me she identified the company as Norman Bisett and Assoicates a "debt collecting company". Now based on CPA a company may not mislead, mirepresent, harress, duress etc etc when amongst other things collect money. The lady said clearly that EDCON has approved these misleading debt collecting campaigns. I asked her was she not ashamed of misleading unsuspecting clients that were in arrears to call and she was non comittal.
NBA and EDCON by assoication and in clear contrevention of the CPA rulings and if someone does not call me to sort this out i am going to make it my personal ambiton to contact the comissioners office and advise him what a huge retail giant is doing to their unsuspecting clients!!
