Problem with repair cost and warranty still valid

I brought a Samsung Colour Laser Jet printer for R 1, 849.91 from Incredible Connection at Eastgate on 11 June 2012 at 18:07, the print was working for about 8 months, then I started to experience difficulties when I had to print in colour, even if I chose the colour option the printer could only print in black and white and this is real frustrating because most of my school work and school projects I have to make use of the option colour. On 08 May 2013 around 17:45 I went to the nearest branch in Middelburg, so that they can check what was problem with this printer. On 30 May 2013, I got a call from them informing me that it will cost R 3, 500.00 to repair, because there was a unit that we damaged. What I really do not understand is the fact that print has 1 year warranty and for some reason they informed me that the damaged parts were not covered under the warranty, but these parts are inside the printer. So to me as customer when you hear the word warranty you turn to be so happy because you will have a peace of mind. The only thing that I want this matter to be resolved, either they give me a new print since they have them in store, model number CLP365 and CLX3305FW.
