Inconsistent information - no more support from me

My account was blocked due to me losing my job and paying erratically. My account was blocked, which I agreed to, but I was told that when I was ready to reactivate my account (now that I am again employed) to bring in 3 months payslips. I did this last week but was told that is no longer how they do it - they will need to prove my employment by phoning my employer. It was a public holiday and the company was closed for the day, so they told me to come back the following day so they can then phone my employer. As I work, this is impossible and told them I can't so they said then there's not much they can do... My bigger concern is that surely I could give just any phone number to them and get a friend to "confirm employment"? I didn't do this as I am honest but surely this isn't the most effective way to do this. How many unemployed people are getting accounts because of this. I payed my account and was prepared to pay it again. I'm not happy with the way this was handle, and I won't be supporting Edgars in the future... They won't reactivate the account nor will they cancel the account. Doesn't make sense to me. How do I close my account?
