Edgards does not want new accounts

My fiance and I went to Edgars 3 weeks ago to open up a new Edgars account for us to buy some clothes. I brought all the essentials. ID, 3 month statement, payslips. This was a weekend and store was busy. I went to new accounts to apply and they had me talk to someone over the phone to create an account now.
After 30 minutes of rambling of all my details to them they asked me to wait. After 5 min of being on hold they told me they couldn't reach my work to confirm my employment. I told them it was because it was my office number and no one worked on weekends. They notified me that they could not process it until they verified it, payslips are not accepted anymore.
When I asked them to cancel the application they told me me they'll approve courtesy credit till Monday, but after waiting another hour the acting supervisor discovered he doesn't have the authority what he offered to me.
I tried the online application route and they did phone all my contacts to find out if they knew me last week. Today I get an email stating my account was declined and I need to wait 3 months before retrying. Half the numbers Edgars has doesn't work and when you get thru nobody wants to help. I give up.
