Borderlands 2 Wrong Region Codes

I purchased borderlands 2 from game xchange about 6-8 months ago, i have been playing the game very nicely untill i tried to purchase the now available online "add on content".

After making 2 purchases i tried playing the game, the game did not recognize the downloads, after a month of speaking to sony and the game designers 2k i found out that i had a region 3 disk instead of a region 2 disk???

I recently went back to game xchange and they exchanged the game for a region 2 disk which was nice of them, i was expecting a fight.
However,
After getting back home and loading the disk i relized my previous games were gone, it turns out that the game is locked to the disk, so i now have lost over 6 months of gaming and thers is nothing i can do about it.

Sony and 2k are telling me that i HAVE to start all over, huge was of time.

Please be carefull when buying from these guys especially after they changed owners... i will still try to get to the bottom of why they are stocking and selling region 3 game disk which are for hong kong, chine etc.
