Good customer service should never be found wanting at a restaurant. I recently experienced the most underwhelming customer service I've ever had in my life at Spetada in Rosebank. Our waiter was the most inattentive and ill-mannered waiter I've ever encountered. The manager, who called himself Jacob, would also do well to receive some basic customer service training. As a foreigner, it is most disheartening to have had my first flagrant experience of racial discrimination in post-Apartheid South Africa received from a black South African. The food was fine, but the customer service was surely enough to induce a loss of appetite. I plan to take this matter as far as possible. Racism, or perhaps more accurately, xenophobia is not something that should be condoned by any institution/establishment in the modern world, much less by one purporting to be in the business of customer service.
