The International Conference Centre in Durban advertises their facility as "state of the art technology-driven" yet a small percentage of the plug points (these are pop-up floor electrical power points) worked. Numerous delegates encountered this problem. Moreover 1) the covers are almost impossible to lift as they are heavy. 2) Once lifted they are dangerous as articles (such as cellphone, tablet) could fall through - because when you lift some of them you are through to the parking basement below; merely a small mesh grate (approx 300mm square) separates. An electrical power point is a basic requirement in a conference auditorium as delegates need to charge laptops and phones.
